Contracts don't lock you into bushels. Every commodity has a Default Storage/Contract Unit (set under Managing Commodities) that Binstor uses everywhere on that commodity's Contracts, but you're never stuck with it: the Amount Sold and the Price on a Contract each have their own unit dropdown, and you can switch either one independently.

On the Contracts page, the Unit dropdown controls what you're viewing the whole list in. Default shows each commodity's card in its own configured unit; picking a specific unit (bu, MT, ST, kg, cwt, or lb) forces every card to that unit just for this view. It doesn't change anything that's saved.

On Add New Contract, Amount Sold has its own unit dropdown, and Futures Price/Basis Price/Net Price share a second, separate one. Both start out matching the commodity's Default Storage/Contract Unit, but changing one never changes the other, so you can record an Amount Sold in MT while pricing it in $/bu, or any other combination.

Basis Price is commonly negative. Since most phone keyboards don't offer a "-" key for number fields, use the ± button to the left of the Basis Price field to flip its sign instead of typing one.
Before relying on the conversion, make sure the commodity has a Bushel Weight set under Commodities; that's what Binstor uses to convert between units. A commodity with no Bushel Weight stays in bushels everywhere until one is added.
FAQ
My converted totals don't look right. Check the commodity's Bushel Weight under Commodities. Conversions use that weight, so a missing or incorrect Bushel Weight throws off the converted total, even though the raw recorded quantity is still correct.
Does switching the list view's unit dropdown change the underlying data? No, it only changes how quantities are displayed for that browsing session. The stored values don't change based on which unit you're viewing.
Why would I want Amount Sold and Price in different units? It's common to think about quantity and price in different terms: your buyer settles by the tonne, but you still think in price-per-bushel out of habit. Recording each in whatever unit is natural avoids doing the conversion math in your head before typing it in.
Where do the unit dropdowns' starting values come from? The commodity's Default Storage/Contract Unit, set under Managing Commodities. Changing a dropdown on one Contract only affects that Contract; it doesn't change the commodity's default for future ones.
