Profitability is a separate page from the Crop Plan itself. It uses the same live Price (blended from your actual Contract sales) and the same Expenses and Fixed Costs as the Crop Plan, but rolls each crop's numbers up to total dollars for its full acreage instead of a per-acre figure, and adds a farm-wide Totals row plus break-even figures that Crop Plan doesn't show.

Go to Budgets > Profitability and pick the crop year.

For each crop in your Crop Plan, you'll see:
- Price: a blended figure calculated from what you've already sold via Contracts, plus your Estimated Price for whatever grain is left to sell.
- Revenue, Crop Expenses, and Fixed Costs (allocated per acre from your Fixed Costs entry).
- Net: a color-coded badge showing profit or loss after expenses and Fixed Costs.
- B/E Price and B/E Yield: the break-even price or yield you'd need to just cover your costs, given everything else held constant. Hover either one for the dollar or bushel gap between break-even and your actual current numbers, with an arrow showing which direction that gap runs.
The Profitability report under Reports is this exact same data and per-crop breakdown. Reports just adds Print / Save PDF and Download CSV; it isn't a different calculation.
FAQ
Where does the Price column come from? It's not something you enter directly. It's calculated from your actual Contract sales plus your Estimated Price (set on the Crop Plan) for whatever portion of your expected production isn't sold yet.
Why do my Profitability numbers look different from my Crop Plan? They're not actually calculated differently: both use the same live Price and the same expense figures. The difference is scale: Crop Plan's Income column is a per-acre figure, while Profitability's Revenue, Expenses, Fixed Costs, and Net are all totaled across that crop's full acreage. Multiply Crop Plan's Income by its acres and you'll land on Profitability's Net for that crop.
Why can't I see Profitability? You need the View Budgets permission, the same one that gates Crop Plan and Fixed Costs.
